Lions Home opener Fall to the Kodiaks

Calgary, AB - Ambrose opened the game with strong possession in the offensive zone but failed to capitalize on opportunities at the 8th and 10th minutes. Lethbridge would control the middle of the half, missing on a free kick opportunity at 15' hitting the wall and having a goal waved off for offside soon after at 19'. The scoring would then be opened by Kodiaks #6 Bryan Sure, hitting top corner on a long-range free kick bomb. Ambrose managed to gain some momentum in the closing minutes of the half but couldn't finish on a couple of high danger chances closing the opening frame at 1-0.

The second half started evenly balanced with a scoring chance for Ambrose at minute 51, and a Lethbridge opportunity at the hour mark. The game remained relatively uneventful until a yellow card was given to Lethbridge #14 Liam Frost at the 68-minute mark. Ambrose struggled for the remainder of the game to gain the offensive zone against Lethbridge's conservative defensive play. Tempers rose late in the game after a tackle that resulted in a yellow card being given to Ambrose #7 Aristotle Cruz. A strong save by Ambrose's Klassen would keep the game score at 1-0 in a road victory for the Kodiaks.
