Lions Swept in Home Final

            In their final home game of the season the Ambrose Lions looked to put an end to their 5-game losing streak against the 11-4 Lethbridge College Kodiaks. Being the final home game, the Lions celebrated Seniors Night to recognize their graduating seniors #11 Josh Nickel and #2 Carter McLenahan.

            In the opening set the Lions matched the play of the Kodiaks to start thanks to strong play from Matthew Clement and Noah Verhoef, But as the game went on the strength of the Kodiaks started to show through. The Kodiaks were able to get out to a 5-point lead and from there closed out the Lions 25-21 to take the first set.

            The Lions jumped out to an early advantage to start the second set but as the set went on the Kodiaks were once again able to crawl back to draw it even. Down the stretch the Kodiaks broke out ahead 22-19. In response the Lions got within one before the visitors closed it out to take a 2-0 set lead.

            Going into the third set the Lions again started strong thanks to the play of Clement and Verhoef. Midway through the set the teams were even, and the set would continue to be neck and neck. On the Kodiaks match point the Lions managed to stay alive to get within one, but failed to convert on their ensuing serve, losing the 3rd and final set 23-25.

            With the loss the Lions drop to 7-11 on the season. They will look to end the season on a win in their final game against the currently 0-15 University of Alberta Augustana Vikings. ACAC Player of the game for the visiting team was #9 Adam Revet. For the Lions, both graduating seniors received the award #11 Josh Nickel and #12 Carter McLenahan
