Slow first quarter spells doom for the Lions as they lost at home to the Lightning.

Calgary, AB – The Ambrose Lions were looking to shake off the two losses they earned against SAIT last weekend in their game this Friday night against the St. Mary's Lightning. The Lightning got off to an extremely fast start, scoring 27 points in the first quarter alone on 62.5% shooting percentage. The Lions only managed 12 points in the opening frame and despite picking up the pace through the rest of the game, could not manage a comeback.

The starters for the Lightning had an excellent game, scoring a total of 65 points, with only 21 of the team's total points coming from the 7 bench players who subbed in at one time or another. Leading the team was Maitlynn Wilde (#10) who scored 15 points while earning 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. The Lions had multiple solid performances as well, one of the most notable being the play of Nya Gach (#9) who came off the bench and scored 17 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks.
