Ambrose Lions battle the Medicine Hat College Rattlers, looking for their first win of 2022.

Calgary, AB – The Ambrose Lions were playing their first game of 2022 on Saturday night against the Rattlers, and it started out looking promising. The Lions took a 30-27 lead into halftime but were unable to secure the win as the Rattlers outscored the Lions 42-26 in the second half. The Lions were extremely hungry for their first win of the semester and were leading throughout the game, however game up short due to a loss in the forth quater of 27-14 points.

The Rattlers had a few players who played excellent games overall, one of them being Abygail LaRochelle (#9) who scored 11 points to go with her 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Another player who had a great game was Katelyn Rozdeba (#22) who scored 26 points with 15 rebounds and 5 steals. The Lions had a few great performances themselves, such as Nya Gach (#9) who had a game-high 3 blocks. Paige Goertzen (#14) had 14 points and 8 rebounds, and Marin Barkey (#10) came off the bench and scored 15 points to go with her 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Player of the game for the Rattlers was Katelyn Rozdeba (#22) and the Player of the game for the Lions was Marin Barkey (#10).

The Rattlers' next game is on Friday, January 21 when they host the SAIT Trojans. The Lions' next game comes next Friday, January 21 when they visit the Red Deer College Queens.
