Athletes of the Week - December 3, 2024
Congratulations to our female athlete of the week!
Kayla Schuurman was a powerhouse hitter for the Lions on Friday night, unstoppable on the left side. Whether a line drive or forcing the ball through a block, Schuurman's power and precision was a sight of beauty in the Lions Den.
The second year was in an undeniable grove, making 27 kills along with five service aces against the Eagles. This performance was a new career high, and Kayla's stunning performance, on top of her 7 digs, was a huge factor in the win.
The win instilled a new energy into the squad and became a motivator in Saturday night's clean, three set sweep over the NWP Wolves, allowing the Lions to head into the Winter Break with their first two win weekend of the semester.
Male Athlete of the Week
Congratulations to our male athlete of the week!
James Censon - MVB
James Censon had a great weekend for the Ambrose Lions, scoring 20 points on Friday and 18 on Saturday.
During the Saturday evening match-up against the NWP Wolves, Censon hit a career high six 3-pointers and was rightfully named the player of the game. The freshman has been a genuine game changer and stepped up when the team only had three veteran players this past weekend.
Censon also had a combined eight rebounds, six assists, and one steal.
