Nationally Ranked SAIT Trojans Overthrow Ambrose Lions at Home

It was a big evening at the Rundle College field, Wednesday September 22nd, as the Ambrose Lions took on the 8th nationally ranked team, the SAIT Trojans. The Ambrose Lion's showed great improvement and grit during this game with their stellar defense and late attack in the second half.

The SAIT Trojans came out strong with an early goal in the 10th minute coming from #7, Nicolas Gonzalez. The goal was assisted by #4, David Loturi, who had made an impeccable cross pass to Gonzalez for a one timer shot into the back of the net. SAIT had another early goal in the 16th minute by #17, Jolly Kopoanomo.  Coming off the bench, #5 Senay Haile scored a late goal in the 63rd minute with an assist from #7, Nicolas Gonzalez.

Throughout the game, Lions goalkeeper, Drayton McLeay was an absolute unit in net with a total of 13 saves throughout the game with the continuing offensive shots from SAIT.

With some late bench substitutions by the Trojans, Ambrose came swinging and attempted 4 shots on net but came up short with the final score being 3-0 for SAIT.

The player of the game for Ambrose was #27 Andrew Kobe, a first year from Calgary Alberta who displayed serious discipline and hard work as a strong defender. #7 Nicolas Gonzalez won the player of the game for SAIT with his early goal and his assist on another in the second half.

Both teams look forward to their next games with Ambrose on the road tackling Medicine Hat and SAIT will play on home turf taking on the Lethbridge Kodiaks.
