Tough Loss for Ambrose Lions at Home

It was a beautiful day for a soccer match as the Ambrose Lions hosted the Lethbridge Kodiaks this afternoon at the Rundle College field. The Lions gave an admirable effort, but ultimately the Kodiaks emerged victorious by a score of 7-0.

Both teams looked solid early, but the Kodiaks broke the tie as Ben Knight (#15) scored the first goal of the game in the 19th minute. It was clear that this goal had broken the floodgates as the Kodiaks cruised into half-time with 4 more goals for a total of 5-0.

After a second first-half goal, the Kodiaks' Ben Knight (#15) was awarded a penalty kick in the second half. He made no mistake and achieved a hat-trick (3 goals in one match) also putting up 2 assists in a dominant effort.

Ambrose's Goalkeeper, Sterling Rempel (#1), did his best to keep the Lions in the game making 4 saves over the course of the game, but unfortunately that wasn't enough.

The Player of the Game for Lethbridge was Shaun Boon (#6), who scored a goal in the first half and played an excellent game overall. The Players of the Game for the Ambrose Lions were seniors, Matthew Wideman (#10) and Joel Navarrete (#12) shared this distinction as they both maintained energy and pressure throughout the game, at their final home game of their career.

The Lions will look to recover their composure and will hope for a better result as they head to Lethbridge for a rematch against the Kodiaks on next Sunday
