Pride Conquers Wolfpack

The Lions poured on the pressure early with a full court press that Northwestern couldn't solve. Lions #10 Ariana Dela Paz came off the bench and scored 10 points in just 4 minutes in the opening quarter, including 2-2 from deep. With their defense going full lockdown the Lions held the wolves to a donut from the field for the entire quarter, closing it out with a commanding 28-2 lead.

The Wolves finally got some offense going to start the second. #20 Raylene Badger went perfect from the field for the Wolves to end their field goal drought, but on the other side the Lions superior ball handling allowed them to control the pace, maintaining a chokehold of a lead 50-15 to end the half.

Badger scored her teams next 6 points to start the third as part of her team high 17-point output for the game. Later in the quarter, back-to-back threes by Lions' forward Nya Gach would keep the Lions lead growing, reaching as much as 46 before ending the third up 69-25.

In the final frame the Wolves had their best offensive output, winning the quarter 17-16, but the game had been out of reach since the first. The large gap allowed us to see some of the up-and-coming talent on the Lions roster. #15 Kaitlyn Anderson made her second appearance of the season for the Lions, playing a season high in minutes to nab player of the game for the Lions. On the other side, #5 Makayla Porteous earned the honors for the Wolves in their 42-85 defeat.
