First Big Win of the Season for the Ambrose Lions

Calgary, AB – The Ambrose Lions women's volleyball team earned their first win of the season over the Briercrest Clippers on Saturday night. The Lions won in decisive fashion, winning the match in three straight sets. The match started out evenly matched, with two closely fought sets going to the Lions, but the momentum continued to build for the Lions who won the final set 14-25 (AMB), looking dominant doing so.

The Clippers had some trouble generating consistent offence, but outside hitter Kacey De Jong (#4) had a solid outing, earning 8 kills and 6 digs. This was enough to earn her the Player of the Game honours for Briercrest. Ambrose's left side hitter, Madeline Williscroft (#6), had an excellent game, scoring 11 kills, as well as contributing a game-high 9 digs. However, the Player of the Game honours for the Lions went to Lexi Herrod (#8), Ambrose's setter. Herrod earned 29 assists and pitched in on defense with 8 digs and 1 block.

The Lions will now prepare themselves to host the SAIT Trojans next Friday night (Nov. 19th), and the Clippers have a week off, before playing host to the SAIT Trojans the following Friday night (Nov. 26th).
